Skylar Edward Fish DipICMA (they / them) is a professional creative in the South Wales performing arts industry. Skylar recently produced their own show, one bedroom apartment, which premiered at The Place, Newport in late July - his work largely focuses on the LGBTQ+ community and is an advocate for neurodiversity and mental health.
They have worked with reputable companies such as Leeway Productions and Gemini Ensemble as a composer, whilst also taking on roles as a performer, such as in Rainbow Valley Productions' 'Jack and The Beanstalk' (2023) and X-entricity Theatre's 'Kinky Boots' (2021). Skylar is also a featured artist for BBC Three’s ‘Lost Boys and Fairies’. In recent months, Skylar was an associate dance artist with Ransack Dance Company on their Explore programme, as well as Fran Wen's "Popeth Ar Y Ddaear", which was performed at Maes B in early August.
Skylar has also worked as both a pianist and dancer with local artists such as LUCIA and is currently a musical director for Stagecoach Performing Arts Monmouth's 'Joseph and The Technicolor Dreamcoat'. Skylar has experience outside of Wales also, working on the feature film 'Fly Away To The Emerald Isle' as 1st Assistant Director and Intimacy Coordinator and tutors at Shining Stars Music Academy, Market Hall Dance Academy, Ballyhoo Stage Arts and Dance Attack Collection.
Skylar holds their Grade 8 Piano, Grade 8 Singing for Musical Theatre and Grade 6 Music Theory qualifications, as well as Grade 8 Performance Arts and Grade 8 Devising. They are an associate of ICMA (Independent Centre for Music Assessment) with a Level 4 Diploma in Composition and Arrangement, and attends Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama on their BMus Composition course.
